A Mystery Retreat with Heart – Paying It Forward, One Stitch at a Time
As many of you know, I sleep, eat, and breathe sewing. It’s more than a craft, it’s the heartbeat of my business, my joy, and the reason I get up every day excited to share, create, and connect. Sewing is my passion, but more than that, it’s my way of bringing people together, building community, and spreading kindness through creativity.
Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of spending time in Morocco — a trip filled with fun, relaxation, time to reflect, and a lots of adventures. And while I was there, something truly special happened. An unexpected act of kindness touched me deeply. It reminded me how powerful a simple, thoughtful gesture can be. That moment stayed with me — and now, I want to pay that kindness forward, in my own way, through what I love most: sewing.
That’s why I’m offering 15 free places on my upcoming One-Day Sewing Retreat — and this one comes with a magical twist…
✨ You won’t know what we’re making until you arrive!
✨But I promise, it will be useful, beautiful, and designed with love by me. If you know me, you’ll know I love designing bags, quilts, and other practical but gorgeous makes — and this could be any one of those! To make it even more special, my lovely friends at Lewis and Irene, who share my passion for sewing and community, have kindly gifted the stunning fabric for this retreat.
All you need to bring is:
-
Your sewing machine
-
Thread
-
Your usual sewing kit (scissors, pins, etc.)
The retreat will be held at the breath-taking Hurds Hill Regency Country House in Somerset — a dreamy venue that offers more than just a sewing space. Think panoramic countryside views, a sunlit sewing room, cosy sofas, a grand dining room, vintage-themed bedrooms, and gardens where you can breathe in stillness and beauty. It’s a haven for creativity, relaxation, and heartfelt connection.
If you’re travelling from afar, you can book directly with the venue to stay the evening before (arrival from 3:30pm) and enjoy a three course meal and bed and breakfast — book here
But this day isn’t just about what we make. It’s about how we make it — together.
It’s about the conversations over cups of tea/coffee, the shared excitement when a project comes to life, and the simple joy of sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with others who love sewing just as much as you do. Sewing creates connection — not just with fabric and thread, but with people. It brings us together, it lifts us up, and it gives us space to feel seen, supported, and inspired.
And as many of you know, giving back is a huge part of why I do what I do. Through our charity sewing days, fundraising raffles, and all the beautiful, love-filled projects we’ve stitched together, this community has helped raise thousands for causes that truly matter. Whether we’re sewing hearts for hospitals or creating pieces to comfort those in need — every single make matters. And this retreat is just one more way to pass that love forward.
